Take a tour of some of Oranga’s new state homes

21 Apr 2023

Oranga is already a great community, and with the updates Kāinga Ora are delivering to housing and amenities, it’s about to get even better.

The Oranga Development means the neighbourhood will benefit from a range of upgrades that will make sure it continues to be a great place to live, now and in the future. There’ll be new walkways, wider footpaths, better playgrounds, and upgraded infrastructure to support a growing community. It’ll make Oranga more beautiful, more walkable, and safer for people of all ages.

Once work is completed, there’ll be around 1,200 brand new homes In Oranga. They’ll be a mix of high quality state, market, and more affordable homes.

Among these, are the recently built state homes on Edmonton Ave. They’re the first example of medium density homes being built in Oranga. These new homes are warm, dry and designed for today, and we’re proud of the way they’ve turned out.

Last year, a viewing day was held for the community to check out Oranga’s new state homes before new whānau moved in.

Local residents had the opportunity to see first hand what makes these new homes more comfortable for whānau to live in.

In this video, Kāinga Ora's Community Development Manager Tess Liew takes a tour around  the new dry and warm state homes on Edmonton Ave.

If you missed the event, you can now see Oranga's new state homes up close, during our next community viewing day on Gambia Place on Saturday 29 April from 10am - 12pm. You’ll have the chance to see what you think of the homes, while enjoying a free coffee and a sausage sizzle. Let us know you’re keen, RSVP here
